District Judges Dashboard
The District Judges Dashboard (/judges) is a district-wide view across every contest you're permitted to manage judges for. It's a separate page from a single contest's Judges tab — use it when you're staffing judges across multiple contests at once rather than one at a time.
For each contest it shows the date and start time in the contest's own timezone, the current Contest Chief Judge (CCJ), and how many Contest Judges (CJ) are signed up so far.
Pending requests
Volunteers who have asked to judge a contest you manage are listed here for a decision — the same queue a Contest Chief Judge sees on their own contest, gathered across the district.
- Approve seats them on the contest and emails them.
- Decline closes the request and emails them.
Where the district's member directory flags a lapsed membership, less time as a member than the district's judge tenure requirement, or an education level below its Pathways requirement, you're asked for a written reason before you can approve. The reason is kept with the decision.
As District Chief Judge you can decide both Judge and Contest Chief Judge requests. A Contest Chief Judge can decide only Judge requests, and only for their own contest.
Assigning a judge or chief judge
Use this for someone who hasn't volunteered themselves.
- Enter the person's name and email.
- Pick the contest.
- Choose the role: Judge (CJ) or Chief Judge (CCJ).
- Optionally attach their club — this is what club-conflict checking uses.
- Select Assign.
Only a District Chief Judge (DCJ) can seat a Contest Chief Judge. Everyone else on this dashboard can only assign Contest Judges.
What happens next
They are added to the contest straight away, and emailed to ask them to confirm they will be there. Assigning is not a request you are waiting on — the seat is theirs from the moment you select Assign. What is outstanding is their answer.
- Someone who already has a TMContest.com account just signs in and confirms. No new password.
- Someone new sets up an account first, which takes a minute, and confirms as part of that.
- Either way they can say "I can't make it." Declining frees the seat — the person is removed from the roster, any access the seat gave them is revoked, and whoever assigned them is emailed so the place can be filled.
Until they answer, the roster shows them as Awaiting confirmation in amber. Once they answer it reads Confirmed. The Contest Judge column on this page counts the same thing — "2 of 4 confirmed" — and only turns green when everyone has answered. A Contest Chief Judge who has not answered is still named, with an Unconfirmed marker beside them.
How long the link lasts, and resending it
- If the address already has an account, the link lasts until the contest starts. It is safe to leave that long because only the signed-in owner of that account can use it.
- If the address is new to TMContest.com, the link lasts 5 days, because that link can create an account.
If someone loses the email or the link lapses, use Resend confirmation on the contest's Judges tab. It sends a fresh link to that seat. Resend acts on the seat, not the person — if somebody holds two seats, resend the one you mean.
Club conflicts
If the person's club is in the same division as the contest, you'll see a warning instead of assigning them straight away. Review it, then Override and send if you still want to proceed — this is a warning, not a hard block, and gets recorded against the invitation.
